我曾经写信向斯托克斯先生询问关于约翰·奈维尔·马斯基林(贾斯伯的祖父)是否曾经发明过打字机键盘,以及关于斯图尔特的《袖中空空》书中关于“摩洛哥”(Morocco)被拼写为Mowocco的原因。
(大卫·费雪在《战争魔术师》一书序言中提到奈维尔曾经设计打字机标准键盘一事。)
斯托克斯先生回信原文如下:
Dear Sir,
Jasper Maskelyne's grandfather, J.N.Maskelyne helped design a
typewriter (but he didn't invent the original machine & didn't invent
the keyboard settings).

Also, you are correct. Mowocco refers to Morocco.
The author is adding a speech impediment. (The inability to pronounce
the letter 'r'.)
Montgomery of Alamein had a similar speech problem.
As does modern TV celebrity Jonathan Ross.
