According to the definition of the China Meteorological Administration, acid rain refers to rain, snow or other forms of precipitation with a pH of less than 5.6. It is mainly caused by man-made emissions of large amounts of acid into the atmosphere. Most of the acid rain in China is sulphuric acid rain, which is mainly caused by massive burning of coal with high sulfur content.
Since the beginning of attention to this issue in the 80s of the 20th century, acid rain has been considered a global atmospheric pollution that can alter the structure and function of various ecosystems in water, living and human environments (Lawrence et al., 2020; Li et al., 2021a; Liu et al., 2019; Liu et al., 2020; Liu et al., 2021a; Taylor et al., 2021). Although the effects of acid rain in various natural environments are increasingly well studied (Liu et al., 2022), in recent years, most studies on the impact of acid rain in China have focused on the central provinces of China. With the development of society, the phenomenon of acid rain in other regions has also become more and more serious, this study will focus on the southern regions of China .Specifically, this study can explore the influence of acid rain in southern China and the specific reasons for its production. Finding these reasons will help the society to prevent acid rain phenomenon.
