      [Wait for me]

      Characters:
      The leading actress:
      Si, 23 years old.
      The leading actor:
Yuan, an orphan, had no clear idea about his age, maybe 21 years old.
      The second actor:
Yu, disappeared at the age of 5, if still alive, he should be 20 years old.

      Outline:
When Si was 8, she lost her litter brother Yu by the seaside. Afterwards, Si went to the seaside city every summer to find Yu.
The hope in her heart had faded away gradually, but she was still here in this summer, just for getting self-comfort or,precisely, as a habit.

She came across Yuan, who was similar to her little brother. They went to do DNA Paternity. Before the time to get the result, they fell in love.

      Text

      Scene 1
Si (Off-screen voice):Do you believe love? Do you believe fate?

      Screen faded in:

There was the quiet sea and the changing white clouds in the sky. The waves washed the beach softly and at intervals. Si stood there, barefooted, whose hair flew with the wind, and whose beauty was shown to the best advantage. She looked at the sea line, quiet and a little sad. She was waiting, but hopeless.

At this time, with the sound of the pathetic and touching waves, there was a jaunty tone of voice: sister, do wait for me!

In the close-up shot of Si, her eyes were shivering uneasily.

      Scene 2

At the noon time, Si was strolling through the street, wearing a white dress. She was familiar as well as unacquainted with this seaside city. From the age of 6, she spent one or two weeks in July every summer here.
She was used of searching and waiting, although hope had been fading away from her heart. She was still here in this summer, just for getting self-comfort or, precisely, as a way of living.
At present, there was a kind of peace in her eyes, with the calm as the result of accepting the fate.

At the moment, a young man passed by, taking a bicycle, and brought a gust of wind, which made Si’s hair fluttering in the air.
Si stopped at a loss. The young man wore a white shirt and a pair of black jeans, he was listening music with the personal stereo when he took the bicycle. When Si saw him passing the corner of the street, she began to run.

Si was crazily chasing the bicycle, which made passengers looked at her. The young man felt her, he stopped the bicycle immediately.
He propped up the body and the bicycle by his left leg, turning his head and looked across at Si with the expression of surprise in his eyes.

Yuan: What’s up? (plucked up his cheeks, embarrassedly)

Si (with the expression of surprise and timidity): Can you give me one of your hairs?

      Scene 3

At dusk, by the sea, Si at her 8 and her litter brother Yu at his 5, were playing the sand. There were torrential waves at the distance.

Si: We lack a roof for our castle, if only there is a whelk!

Yu: I’ll go and find one.

Si: Be quick! Mom will call us back to the hotel when the night comes.

Yu: Got it. Wait for me!

Si was concentrating on the sand sculptures all the time. The sound of waves got higher and higher, and the races of the setting sun was swallowed by the night gradually.
She didn’t realize that her brother had been gone for quite a long time until her sight got dim. She turned her head in a hurry, but all she saw was the violent sea, she couldn’t seek out her brother Yu.

Many scenes rushed into the screen, dazzling and puzzling, which dropped a hint of anxiousness and sadness:
      Si and her parents ran on the beach, crying out her brother’s name;
      Some lifeguards searched in the sea;
Si’ mother yelled and cried hysterically.

At last, the screen froze at the close-up of Si. At this time, many kinds of off-screen voices rang up disorderly:
Lifeguards: He must have been drawn into the sea.
Si’s mother: It was all your fault! You are such a hoodoo! You killed my son!
Si’s father: Don’t say that kind of nonsense!

Voices faded away gradually, the voice of Si’s cry got louder and louder, at last, Si shouted herself hoarse: Yu, where you are!

      Scene 4

In the hallway of the hospital, Si and Yuan walked side by side. Every now and then Yuan snatched a look across at Si. And every time Yuan looked at her, Si cast a gracious smile in his direction.

Yuan: We must wait a week for the result, right?

      Si: Ah, yes.

Yuan: Do……do I resemble your brother?

      Si: Yeah.

Yuan (incredulous but longing): So……I have dad and mom like others, and…… (looked at Si) I also has a sister!

Si (smiled in peace, looked at Yuan with a doting expression in her eyes): Pretty near, you know, you are an orphan……

Yuan(anticipated): What’s more, I was found by the sea, I didn’t remember anything about what had happened and who I am!

Si smiled in satisfied silence. Yuan scratched his head shyly. He intended to say something but at last hesitated. There was a kind of anxiety in his radiant smile. From then, his heart hung in a quandary.

      Scene 5

There were lots of landscapes of this seaside city, accompanied with the sceneries of the two persons’ happy hours. The background music may be some tiny ditty which was romantic and lovely.

The actor and the actress didn’t need rehearsals. They must be improvisational. What they ought to show was the real life, the happiness and the love.

      Scene 6

At dusk, in the beacon, Si and Yuan leaned on the window and looked at the setting sun on the sea horizon.

Yuan (against the wind and breathed deeply): I want to have a look at them.

Si hesitated for a moment, then she found a photograph of Si’s family in her cell phone, which was taken before her brother was lost. She handed her phone to Yuan.

Yuan: Wow! How beautiful Mom was! How handsome Dad was! And you…… (looked at Si, smiled shyly) how ugly you were!

      Si: Go along with you!

Yuan: This boy (pointed at Si’s brother) is me, is that true? So…… so incredible!

Si: You ought to believe! Must believe! I’ve been searching for you for 17 years, even God has no idea to let me down again! My Yu! Just believe!

Yuan (retracted the smile, frustrated): My name is Yuan.

Si: (puzzled) Do……do you worry about it? (smiled confidently) Nearly! Sure it will be! You must be my brother!

Yuan (in the expression of thinking something and smiled unnaturally): So, you are my sister.

Si (held Yuan\'s hand, in buoyant spirits): Of course!

Yuan (hard to speak out): Can……can I kiss you?

      Si (perplexed): What?

Yuan: I’m afraid that I’ll be unaccustomed to having a sister then. So, I want to rehearse how to kiss my sister.

Si (nodded with hesitating mind): Okay.

They closed to each other shyly. Si turned her left cheek towards Yuan. However, Yuan kissed her lips.
Si was logy for a while, and then beat Yuan with great anxiousness.
When they were apart, Si was still in a state of shock, while Yuan was calm as nothing had happened. Si got the mood of Yuan, she escaped.

      Scene 7

Yuan went out the beacon at a loss. He saw Si sitting at the corner.

Si (looked at the distant sea): Even if you are not my brother, we can’t do that.

      Yuan (anxiously): Why?

Si: My fate……I restrain the Yang.

      Yuan: W……What does it mean?

Si (with a tearful voice): After two years of my brother’s disappear, my father died a sudden death in a car crash. Someone told my fortune that, I will kill all the men coming into my life.

      Yuan: Nonsense!

Si: Once I had a boyfriend at the university, but he fell ill suddenly……

      Yuan: Did he die?

Si: No, we parted in time.

      Yuan: You left him, ah?

      Si:(Keep silent)

      Yuan: I don’t believe!

      Scene 8

Outside the hospital, it was raining with great thunders and lightning. Si was waiting under the awning anxiously. She called Yuan by her cell phone.

Yuan (voice in the phone): I’m coming! You may go in now and I will be there soon.

Si: No! I want us together!

Yuan (voice in the phone): Okay, I\'ll be with you momentarily. Wait for me!

After hanging up, Si’ heart was full of vague anxiousness. She suddenly broadened her eyes.
Off-screen voice came in, it was Yuan’s words, repetitive and multiple: wait for me!

      Scene 9

In the corridor of the hospital, four nurses were pulling a wheel stretcher in a great hurry.
Yuan lay on the wheel stretcher and fell into his coma, his face was sunk in scar tissue.
Si was chasing the wheel stretcher, her heart was burning with anxiety.

Si: Yuan, please! Please wake up! Do you intend to kill me?

      Scene 10

Outside the operating room, Si sat on the bench, sobbing, with her head down.
The doctor from the ambulance: Are you Si?

Si (rose her head and then stood up, with great jitter): Yeah.

The doctor from the ambulance: the injured boy was always twittering some words in his coma. I think I should tell you.

Si (surprised and perplexed): W……what did he say?

The doctor from the ambulance: He said ”It was my fault, unreasonable to blame Si”.

Si was surprised and touched, sadness flew over her face. She choked, turned around and cried.

      Scene 11

In the ICU, Yuan was in the bed, with an oxygen mask on his face. The screen changed then. Si and the doctor talked outside the ICU.

Doctor: There is little chance for him to wake up.

Si (choked with sobs): Please! Do rescue him! Please! If he dies, then……I have no way to live!

Doctor: We will try our best, but……had better made mental preparation. By the way, who are you to him?

Si was shocked, and then suddenly saw the light. She ran away.

The scene changed into another room of the hospital, Si was shivering and torn the unopened DNA paternity into pieces.

      Scene 12

One year later; in the city where Si was.

She was busy with her work in her office, at this time she got a glimpse of Yu’s photograph putted on the writing desk, then she fell into a despondent mood. She picked the photograph up and looked it up and down. The off-screen voice came in.

Si’s Mother: Dear Si, stop finding him, Okay? We just believe that he is in some place and leads a happy life. Okay?

Waves of tears swept over her eyes.

Suddenly, the telephone rang. Si picked up the receiver, there was the secretary’s words.

Secretary: There is a boy waiting for you in the hall, who represented himself to be your little brother.

The screen gave a Si’s square image, who was amazed and doubting.

      Scene 13

In the hall of the office building, Si got off the elevator, and saw the sight of the boy’s back in the distance. The boy was glancing around the space. Si was overjoyed but also worried. She hesitated to move, but never stopped.

The boy turned his head inadvertently. Then the moment their eyes met came. All things in the world became backgrounds. There were only he and she.

Si shook her head unconsciously and backed away slowly. Yuan made big steps to get Si and held her tight in his arms.

Si (Pushed Yuan): Stop! Keep apart! Or else I’ll kill you!

Yuan (sobbed): I don’t believe! I don’t release! Never and forever!

Si was surprised, touched and tearful. She intended to embrace Yuan, but was still hesitating.

Yuan: I’m not your brother! I knew! I……I believe it!

Si: Aren’t you scared? Even if death?

Yuan: It was so hard for me to find you that even God has no idea to take me away. If…… if you kill me one day, then it’ll be a good chance to let me see God and ask: why did you do such an unfair thing to Si!

      Si: You naughty boy!

Yuan: From now on, you must cherish me absolutely, because (impulsively) as a man felling into love with you, I am in danger of losing my life at any time!

Si burst into tears, but soon smiled. At last, her arms held Yuan so tightly that it felt difficult to part them from each other.

The last full-length shot: From the scene of the embracing lovers to the changing white clouds in the sky.
